A brand that communicates who you are before a word is read.
Most SME brands are a logo and a colour. A brand identity system is something different: a documented set of visual rules that ensures every touchpoint from business card to website to Instagram post looks and feels like the same company. We build brand systems that hold up at scale.
The problem
Most South African SMEs have a logo made in a rush and a colour palette that was never documented. Over time, different vendors produce inconsistent outputs: the website looks different to the print collateral, the social graphics look different to the email signature. The brand feels amateur even when the business is professional.
The result
A documented brand identity system eliminates the visual inconsistency that undermines trust. With clear guidelines, every new touchpoint from any vendor produces work that looks like it belongs to the same company.
What's included
Everything you need. Nothing you don't.
Brand Audit
A review of everything that currently exists: logo files, colour codes, fonts in use, and how the brand appears across web, print, and social. Most audits surface inconsistencies that have accumulated without the business noticing.
Logo Refinement or Redesign
Logo file delivery in all required formats (SVG, PNG, PDF) at all required variants (primary, reversed, stacked, horizontal, icon-only). If the existing logo is fundamentally sound, we refine rather than replace.
Colour System
A documented primary and secondary palette with HEX, RGB, CMYK, and Pantone codes, plus usage rules for each colour (primary backgrounds, accent, text).
Typography System
Primary and secondary typeface selection with size scale, weight usage rules, and line-height specifications for web and print contexts.
Visual Language Guidelines
Rules for photography style, illustration usage, iconography, and pattern or texture, so the brand can be extended consistently by any vendor.
Brand Guidelines Document
A single PDF and editable source file covering all of the above, with examples of correct and incorrect application for the most common touchpoints.
Who this is for
Businesses launching for the first time that need a complete visual identity from scratch. Also relevant for established businesses whose brand was created informally and has become inconsistent over time, or businesses that have evolved past their original positioning and need a brand that reflects where they are now.
This is a deliberate process with a discovery phase, concept development, and refinement rounds. It's not a fit if you need a logo in 24 hours.
Not right for you if
You need a logo for a temporary project or event. Single-use visual assets don't need a full brand system. For one-off design needs, see our Social Content Production engagement.
Works best alongside
Once the brand system is in place, content production becomes faster and more consistent. The two engagements are often sequenced together.
The design system informs the website build. We deliver brand guidelines before the website design phase begins.
Brand voice is part of the identity. Copy and visual identity developed together produce more coherent results than copy layered on top of an existing design.

FAQ
Common questions about Brand Identity & Design System.
Do you only do the visual identity, or do you also define our brand voice?+
Brand voice (tone, language style, messaging framework) is adjacent to visual identity but is a separate engagement. We can include it as part of a brand identity project if required: we'll scope it explicitly.
How many logo concepts will we see?+
Two to three initial directions, based on a thorough discovery brief. We present options that are genuinely different from each other rather than cosmetic variations of the same idea.
What file formats do we receive?+
SVG, PNG (multiple resolutions), PDF, and EPS as standard. If you need TIFF or other specialist formats, we include them at no additional cost.
